The weekend 15 & 16 August was a welcomed opportunity to introduce our youngsters to the show ring. 1st day of competition was the SHCQ Rising Star and Childs HOTY held at the Jimboomba Pony Club Grounds.

The morning was drizzled in rain but didn’t stop the team presenting to the Judges with Great results. The littlest on the team ‘Lentara Ambition’ owned by a Kate Kyros and ridden by Georgia Cronin winning the flowers Champion Rising Star Shetland. Brady as we know him at home has been running free unbroken as a stallion and came to Universal just 4 months ago.
Royalwood Touch of Lyric (by Boy Soprano) swanned his way to Champion Rising Star Galloway. Phil rode Leigh Sears young Thoroughbred by Sequalo ‘The Lawyer’. Having finished his racing career in May 2019 This combination impressed the judges for Champion Rising Star Large Hack.

The Grand National qualifying Childs classes for the youngsters saw little Willow Scotson riding ‘Bamborough Mickey J’ working a foot perfect workout in the competitive Large Childs Pony and what a thrill to take the win. Mackenzie Thompson stepped aboard The Johnston’s family Galloway ‘Rosedale Remembrance’ to win the Childs Galloway. This combination continued their success with a Mackenzie being awarded champion Junior Rider.

The 2nd day of competition was the Show Horse Qld Newcomer HOTY held at the Parkridge Pony Club Grounds. Shona Clark’s Malibu Park Lace Top worked a treat with Rhys in the saddle for Champion Newcomer Large Pony. The stunning Royalwood Touch of Lyric backed up the Rising Star Championship to win the Champion Newcomer Galloway. The Lawyer also performing super all day scooping the pool winning Champion Newcomer Large Hack, Champion Newcomer Thoroughbred and Best ridden Thoroughbred. Great weekend of showing for team.
